Eagles Notch Five NCAA Qualifying Marks at Bob Pollock Invitational
The Emory University track and field team turned in one of its
strongest performances of the season on Saturday, recording five
NCAA qualifying times at the Bob Pollock Invitational, including an
automatic qualifying time from Jasmine McCullough
in the 100-meter hurdles.
The meet, hosted by NCAA Division I Clemson University in Clemson,
SC, featured a number of Division I and unattached runners.
McCullough’s time of 14.45 seconds in the event was not only
a person best for the junior, but also the sixth-fastest time by a
Division III athlete this season, and the fourth-best mark in Emory
history. She finished 10th overall in the
event.
Emory junior Alix Dyer also ran a season-best time
in the 100-meter dash, finishing fourth in the event with a
provisional qualifying time of 12.20 seconds, the sixth-fastest
time in school history. Dyer was also Emory’s top
finisher in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.63 seconds.
Junior Lauren Attiah added a provisional
qualifying mark for the women in the triple jump, finishing seventh
with a leap of 11.55 meters. The Emory women’s
4x100-meter relay team also earned a provisional qualification
mark, placing third in a time of 48.09 seconds.
For the Emory men, Xavier Fowler recorded a triple
jump of 14.45 meters, good for provisional qualification and a
fifth-place finish. The distance was a career-best for
Fowler, and the second-best jump overall this season by an
Eagle.
Other top marks for the Emory men included Mike
Moserowitz’s long jump of 6.56 meters, placing him
11th in the event, and Isaac
Chambers’ time of 49.67 seconds in the 400-meter
dash, good for a 12th-place finish.
The Eagles will return to action next Thursday, traveling to
Naperville, IL for the Dr. Keeler Invitational at North Central
College.
