Emory’s Maddy Outman Named USTFCCCA Regional Assistant Coach of the Year
Emory University assistant track and field coach Maddy
Outman was named the Women’s Assistant Coach of the
Year for the South/Southeast Region by the United States Track and
Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the 2011
outdoor season.
In her first season with the Eagles, Outman helped Emory’s
sprinters, hurdles and horizontal jumpers put together a banner
year. She was named part of the University Athletic
Association (UAA) Women’s Outdoor Coaching Staff of the year,
after helping Emory to six conference championships and 21 all-UAA
honors. In addition, Outman’s coaching has led to four
Eagles qualifying for the NCAA Championships, with athletes
scheduled to compete in the 100-meter dash, 110-meter hurdles,
4x100-meter relay and the triple jump.
Outman becomes the first member of the Emory coaching staff to be
named the Women’s Regional Assistant of the Year for the
outdoor season. It marked the third time overall that an
Eagles’ assistant has garnered the men’s or
women’s award for the indoor or outdoor season.
The Eagles will be in action at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track
and Field Championships from May 26th –
28th at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio.
