Sophomore Dani Bland and junior Shane Sullivan of the Emory University Track and Field teams were named the University Athletic Association Track Athletes of the Week as announced by the Association late Monday afternoon.
Bland maintained the top spot on the Division III leaderboards as she broke the Emory school record in the 100m Dash with a time of 11.70 at the Emory Classic on Saturday. Bland also climbed to 10th in the country in the 200m Dash with a time of 25.45 and was a member of the 4x100m Relay that moved into sixth in the nation with a time of 48.66 at the meet. She competed in the 4x400m Relay as well which finished in a time of 4:14.21. Bland currently ranks 1st in the UAA in both the 100m and 200m Dashes and the 4x100m Relay.
Sullivan turned in the best time in Division III so far this season in the 5000m Run on Friday morning, finishing second in his heat and 36th overall with a time 14:28.05 at the Raleigh Relays, competing against mostly Division I runners. His mark broke the Emory school record by over seven seconds, a milestone that stood for over 31 years.
The Eagles are back in action this weekend with the VertKlasse Meeting at High Point University on Friday and Saturday.
