June 22, 2016 2015-16 Women's Indoor Track & Field Season Recap Led by the 4x400m Relay team, the Emory University Women’s Track & Field team came in 28th place with eight points at the 2016 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships at Grinnell College in Grinnell, IA. The 4x400m Relay comprised of sophomores Julia Leventhal, Erica Goldman and freshmen Dilys Osei and Ariana Newhouse registered a second place finish in the event with a time of 3:52.33, becoming just the second ever Emory relay team to earn indoor All-America honors. Their season place showing also marked the highest by at indoor nationals in Emory history (individual or relay).
June 22, 2016 Mees, Williamson, Pietsch Named CoSIDA Academic All-Americans Three members of the Emory University Track & Field teams, Lukas Mees, Julie Williamson and Daniel Pietsch, were recognized as Track & Field/Cross Country Academic All-Americans as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), the organization announced on Wednesday afternoon. Mees was named to the First Team with Williamson and Pietsch earning spots on the second team. With his first team selection, Mees becomes just the seventh men’s track & field/cross country student-athlete in Emory history to garner Academic All-America First Team honors.
May 28, 2016 NATIONAL CHAMPION!! - Pietsch Wins 400m Dash Title on Day Three of NCAA Outdoor Championships Sophomore Daniel Pietsch became just the second Emory Men’s Outdoor National Championship ever on Saturday at the 2016 NCAA Division III Championships at Wartburg College in Waverly, IA. Pietsch came-from-behind on the final stretch of the race to edge out Monmouth (Ill.)’s James Wilson by just .05 second to win the National Championship. Pietsch posted a school-record time of 46.92 in the event. The Kula, HI native is just the second ever Emory male athlete to be crowned an outdoor national champion, joining Troy Thompson who won the Triple Jump in 1995.
May 27, 2016 Pietsch Qualifies for 400m Dash Finals with Personal-Best Time on Day Two of NCAA Championships Emory University sophomore Daniel Pietsch qualified for the 400m Dash final on day two of the 2016 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships at Wartburg College in Waverly, IA.
May 27, 2016 Emory Places Eight Student-Athletes on CoSIDA Cross Country/Track & Field All-District Teams The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) released their 2015-16 Academic All-District teams in men’s and women’s cross country/track and field on Thursday afternoon with a total of eight Emory student-athletes being chosen. The Emory men’s team saw five athletes recognized in seniors Lukas Mees and Jacob Seigel and a trio of sophomores in Max Brown, Daniel Pietsch and Benjamin Rogin. On the women’s side, seniors Alexandra Aiello and Julie Williamson were selected as well as former cross country runner Elise Viox.

Dilys OseiWomen's Track & Field Freshman sprinter Dilys Osei had a tremendous showing for the Eagles at the Mount Laurel Invitational this past Friday. Osei had two individual first place showings in the 200m Dash and 100m Hurdles and ran the first leg of Emory's first place 4x100 relay team. Both her 200m (25.32) and 100m Hurdles (15.04) represented new season-best times for Emory in each event and in the top three among UAA athletes, 2nd in the 100m Hurdles and 3rd in the 200m Dash. Erica GoldmanWomen's Track & Field Sophomore Erica Goldman assisted the Emory women in winning the Emory Classic over the weekend with two first place showings. Goldman won the 400m Dash with a time of 56.59 and ran the anchor leg of the Eagles' first place 4x400 relay team which finished with a time of 3:53.94 which was almost 11 seconds faster than the rest of the field. Goldman's 400 time ranks as the top UAA time so far this season and the second fastest in Division III while the relay sits with the second fastest DIII time after the weekend. Read More

Dani BlandWomen's Track & Field Freshman sprinter Dani Bland posted UAA-leading times in both the 100m Dash (12.16) and 200m Dash (25.98) and ran the anchor leg in Emory's fifth place 4x100 relay team which clocked in at 48.73, the third fastest time in Division III this weekend. Julie WilliamsonWomen's Track & Field Emory University junior Julie Williamson recorded the second-fastest 800-meter run time in the program’s history at the Georgia Invitational in Athens on Saturday. Williamson finished ninth in the event with a time of 2:12.45, a 1.24-second improvement on her previous career-best mark, and was second in school history only to Katherine Marshall’s program record of 2:11.99, set at the 1990 NCAA Championships. The mark ranked as the 28th-fastest in Division III this season, and the third-fastest in the UAA in 2015. Read More

Hannah SmithWomen's Track & Field Emory University senior Hannah Smith won the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the 2015 University Athletic Association Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Atlanta, Georgia on Saturday. Smith claimed first in the event with a time of 10:57.50, the seventh-fastest in school history and the 16th-fastest by a Division III competitor this year. She became just the third Eagle to break the 11-minute barrier in the event, and her time was 10.23 second improvement on her previous career-best time (and a near 24-second improvement on her career-best mark entering the season). Smith returned the next day to score in the 1,500-meter run, finishing seventh in the event with a career-best time of 4:44.96. Madison HoeninghausenWomen's Track & Field Emory University senior Madison Hoeninghausen earned all-conference honors with a second-place finish in the javelin throw at the 2015 University Athletic Association Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Atlanta, Georgia on Sunday. Hoeninghausen was the runner-up in the event with a career-best throw of 35.67 meters, over a meter improvement on her previous personal-best mark. It marked the first career all-University Athletic Association honor of her career. Erica GoldmanWomen's Track & Field Emory University freshman Erica Goldman ran the fastest 400-meter dash by a University Athletic Association competitor this season, while in action at the Catamount Classic in Cullowhee, North Carolina last weekend. Goldman finished fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.82 seconds, almost a full second faster than any other UAA runner this year, and the 22nd-fastest in Division III this season. She also recorded a season-best time in the 200-meter dash, finishing 17th with a time of 26.61 seconds. Goldman was a part of two Emory relays as well, finishing fifth as the anchor leg of the Eagles’ 4x100-meter relay with a mark of 50.16 seconds (the second-best in the UAA this year) and fifth as the third leg of the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:01.20. Kora DreffsWomen's Track & Field Emory University freshman Kora Dreffs recorded the best mark in the shot put this season by an Eagle at the Catamount Classic in Cullowhee, North Carolina last weekend. Dreffs finished ninth in the event with a career-best throw of 11.35 meters, a .29 meter improvement on her previous best throw. The distance ranks as the second-best in the University Athletic Association this season. She also recorded a career-best mark in the hammer throw, placing 22nd with a distance of 33.43 meters. On Friday, Williamson anchored Emory’s school-record setting 4x800-meter relay team, which finished second at the meet with a time of 9:14.64. She followed that by finishing third and running a time of 2:14.46 in the individual 800-meter run, giving her the sixth-fastest time in school history in the event, and the third-fastest in Division III this season. Electra KornWomen's Track & Field Emory University senior Electra Korn won the conference championship in the 400-meter dash, and claimed all-conference honors in two other events at the 2015 University Athletic Association Indoor Track and Field Championships. Korn won the 400-meter dash for the second-straight season, claiming first place in the event with a time of 57.39 seconds. She also finished second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.74 seconds, and third in the 60-meter hurdles with a mark of 9.21 seconds, earning all-UAA honors in each event. Aiello finished fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 10.80 meters, the second-best jump by a University Athletic Association competitor this year. She also finished sixth in the long jump with a mark of 5.01 meters, the sixth-best jump in the UAA this season. On the track, Aiello added season-best times of 7.53 seconds in the preliminaries of the 55-meter dash (fourth in the UAA), good for a third-place finish, and 27.87 seconds in the 200-meter dash (16th in the UAA) to finish 10th in the race. Stephanie CraneWomen's Track & Field Emory University senior Stephanie Crane turned in a pair of solid performances at the Buccaneer Invitational, hosted by East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee. Crane recorded the fastest time in the mile run this season by an Eagle, finishing third in the seeded section of the event with a mark of 5:09.33. The time was a near nine-second improvement on her previous season-best, and was the sixth-fastest in the University Athletic Association this year. In the 800-meter run, Williamson placed 10th in the event with a time of 2:16.60. The mark was the 11th-fastest by an NCAA Division III competitor in the event this season. Williamson also ran the third leg of the Eagles’ 4x400-meter relay team, which placed eighth at the meet. Electra KornWomen's Track & Field Emory University senior Electra Korn recorded the fastest 400-meter dash and second-fastest 200-meter dash times by an NCAA Division III competitor this season, while in action at the Emory Crossplex Invitational in Birmingham, Alabama on Sunday. Korn won the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.57 seconds, the second-fastest mark in school history, and the fastest converted time in Division III by over three-tenths of a second. She later finished second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.18 seconds, also the second-fastest time in the program’s history. In addition, her mark in the event was the fastest raw time by a Division III athlete in the event this year. Korn also competed in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing sixth with a time of 9.29 seconds, a personal-best mark and the 25th-fastest Division III time for the campaign. Ford was the national runner-up in the heptathlon, accumulating a school-record 4,828 points during the two day event. She led all competitors through the first six events of the heptathlon, building her lead with a first-place finish in the high jump with a school-record height of 1.72 meters, and career-best marks of 14.94 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles, 26.11 seconds in the 200-meter dash, and 2:46.40 in the 800-meter run. Competing against a field of five NCAA Division I competitors, including three from Southeastern Conference (SEC) programs, Ford placed third in the heptathlon with a score of 4,729 points, besting the previous school record of 4,364 points, set by former Eagle Ashley Demarco during the 2006 season. She opened competition with a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 15.07 seconds, the 27th-best time in Division III this year, and third among University Athletic Association (UAA) competitors. Katie WilsonWomen's Track & Field Emory University sophomore Katie Wilson set a new career-best mark in the high jump at the Terrier Relays in Spartanburg, South Carolina on Saturday. Wilson finished third in the event after clearing the bar at a height of 1.59 meters. The squad finished first in the event with a time of 3:51.64, seven hundredths of a second better than the next-best Division III team this year.
