Emory Volleyball Breezes By Alabama-Huntsville
The Emory University volleyball team, ranked No. 3 in the
nation, captured its third straight match Tuesday evening as it
recorded a 3-0 decision over Alabama-Huntsville. The Eagles
raised their record to 11-2 following a 25-12, 25-9, 20-25 verdict
over the Division II Chargers who slipped to 6-12.
Head Coach Jenny McDowell saw her club finish with an impressive
44.4 attack percentage (42-6-81), the team's second-highest mark of
the year, while holding the visitors to .059 percent (22-17-85).
The Eagles held a firm 39-25 edge in digs and registered five total
blocks to UAH's one.
Sophomore Jessica McAlvany led a balanced Emory
hitting attack with 12 kills, her ninth performance of double-digit
terminations this season, while her 64.7 attack percentage
(12-1-17) marked a season best in that category. Freshman
Breanah Bourque contributed eight kills to the
offensive attack while sophomore Alexandra Wright
totaled seven. Junior Amelia McCall paced
the defensive effort with a season-high tying 11 digs while
sophomore Natalie Schonefeld finished the night
with 32 assists and seven digs.
The Eagles return to action on Friday when they host the first day
of the Emory Tournament with their first test coming against Thomas
More (4:30 p.m.) before meeting Washington & Lee (7:00 p.m.) in
