THE COACHES – Emory Head Coach Jenny
McDowell (Georgia, ’89) is in her 15th year at the
helm of the Eagles’ program. During her stint at Emory,
McDowell has posted a school and career won-lost ledger of
456-120. She has 11 campaigns of 30 or more wins and has
directed the program to 14 consecutive trips to the NCAA
Tournament. She guided Emory to its first-ever national title
in 2008 and was named as the AVCA National Coach of the Year.
USC-Aiken is led by Glenn Cox (Valdosta State,
1994), who is in his third campaign as head coach. Heading into an
Oct. 6 match at Lander, Cox had recorded a school record of
38-42. In nine years of head coaching, which includes a
six-year stint at Savannah College of Art & Design, Cox had

victories in 14 of 19 campaigns and appearances to the NAIA

match. The Pacers came out on the short end of 3-2 decisions
to Catawba and Embry-Riddle, respectively, last weekend. Six
of USC-Aiken’s nine setbacks have been five-set battles.
Lee University’s 3-2 win over Shorter on Tuesday, boosted its
record to 18-0. The Lady Flames had recorded 11 consecutive 3-0
victories prior to Tuesday’s contest and have been extended
past three sets in just four matches this season.
