Emory Volleyball Claims Season-Opening Win

The No. 3-ranked Emory volleyball team opened the 2010 campaign on
a positive note Wednesday evening by coming away with a 3-0 win at
Berry College. The Eagles posted a 25-23, 25-21, 25-21
decision over the Vikings who were also making their season
debut.
Senior Amelia McCall and junior Jessis McAlvany keyed the Emory
offensive attack with eight kills apiece with McAlvany tying junior
Natalie Schonefeld and senior Kelsey Krzyston with six digs. Emory
was credited with a 20.3 hitting percentage compared to
Berry’s 11.6 percent.
The Eagles were efficient in its serving game and dished out 11
aces, three each from Schonefeld and McAlvany.
Emory returns to action this Saturday (Sept. 4) when it takes part
in the Maryville College Tournament. The Eagles battle
Lynchburg and Southwestern University on Saturday before taking on
Mount. St. Joseph and host Maryville on Sunday.
