Amelia McCall Named UAA Volleyball Co-Player Of The Week
Senior Amelia McCall (Montgomery, AL/Montgomery
Academy HS) has been selected by the University Athletic
Association (UAA) as its Volleyball Co-Player of the Week following
her efforts this past weekend. She shares the honor with
Paige Blasco of Brandeis University.
McCall posted back-to-back double-doubles in kills and digs as the
Eagles split a pair of matches. In a 3-2 win over Division II
member USC-Aiken on Friday (Oct. 7), the 5-foot-10 McCall led Emory
with a career-high tying 18 kills and contributed a personal-best
21 digs. In the decisive fifth game, she registered seven of
the team’s nine terminations as the Eagles ran their mark to
4-0 in five-set matches.
In a 3-1 setback to NAIA power and undefeated Lee University,
McCall was second high on the squad with 15 successful put-aways
and totaled 13 digs. Her effort against Lee represented her
seventh consecutive double-double and eighth of the year.
In the two matches combined, she averaged team highs in both kills
(3.67 kps) and digs (3.78 dps).
In UAA statistics released at the start of the week, McCall is
first on the squad and fifth among league performers in kills per
set (3.18 kps) while her 27.6 attack percentage is 13th on the
conference chart.
The Eagles, 17-3 on the year and ranked No. 3 nationally among
Division III squads, will travel to Brandeis University this
weekend (Oct. 16-17) to compete in the UAA Round Robin II.
