Emory Volleyball Wins Final Two Matches At The UW-Whitewater Invitational
The No. 3-ranked Emory volleyball closed out the final day of
action at the UW-Whitewater Invitational on a positive note,
winning a pair of contests. The Eagles opened the morning
with a 3-0 win over Finlandia (25-13, 25-14, 25-5) before
registering a 3-0 triumph against St. Ambrose, 25-20, 25-14,
26-24. Emory recorded a 3-1 mark during the Invitational and
now stands 13-2 on the season.
Junior Jessica McAlvany led the squad in the Finlandia affair with
12 kills while freshman Casey Perryman chipped in seven
terminations. Junior Natalie Schonefeld and sophomore Emily
Reiser shared the setting duties with Reiser totaling 15 assists
and Schonefeld 10. Freshman Molly Landers helped the
defensive effort with six digs.
McAlvany came up big again in the St. Ambrose match, racking up 15
kills while senior Amelia McCall added 13 successful attacks along
with 10 digs. Schonefeld dished out 39 assists and came up
with 16 digs while Landers led the squad with 18 digs. Junior
Ali Wright picked up two block solos and a pair of block
assists.
Emory returns to the Woodruff PE Center next Saturday and Sunday
(Oct. 2-3) when it hosts the University Athletic Association Round
Robin I.
