Emory Women's Cross Country Team Finishes Ninth At Griak Invitational
Results
The Emory University women's cross country team, ranked 29th in the
nation, turned in a solid performance at the 24th annual
Griak Invitational on Saturday, recording a ninth-place finish out
of 37 teams.
The Eagles totaled 278 points and were led by sophomore
Tess Gallegos who crossed the finish line in
26th position out of 500 competitors with a 6K time of
23:38.
Taking home first-place honors was No. 9-ranked University of
Wisconsin-La Crosse with 98 points. UW-Oshkosh, ranked
16th nationally, finished runner-up with 112 points
while No. 12 UW-Eau Claire claimed the No. 3 spot with 117
points. Bethel (136 pts.) and Wartburg (154 pts.) rounded out
the top five.
Junior Rebecca Flink was the second Emory runner
to finish with her effort of 23:50 placing her in 32nd
place. Junior Natalie Fenn (24:11) finished
50th, and rounding out the team's scorers were junior
Jenny Feinberg (24:37, 80th place) and
sophomore Sara Gelb (24:45, 90th
place).
The top women's finished was Bethel's Marie Borner with a time of
21:36.
Emory returns to action on Oct. 10 when it races at the
Jacksonville State (AL) Invitational.
