Emory Women's Cross Country Solid At UW-Oshkosh Brooks Invitational

The No. 34-ranked Emory University women's cross country team
enjoyed a fine performance Saturday morning at the UW-Oshkosh
Brooks Invitational, registering an eighth-place finish out of 36
teams. The 6k race was held at the Lake Breeze Golf Course in
Winneconne, Wisconsin.
The Eagles registered a team total of 231 points. Taking home
the No. 1 spot was Division II member Minnesota-Duluth with 89
points. Host UW-Oshkosh, ranked No. 7 in Division III, and
the University of Chicago, ranked 15th, tied for the
runner-up spot with 116 points. No. 10 Calvin College (117 pts.)
and No. 13 Hope College (142 pts.) rounded out the top five teams,
respectively.
Junior Tess Gallegos was Emory’s No. 1 finisher, clocking a
22:23 that placed her 19th overall out of 499
runners. Senior Natalie Fenn covered the course with a time
of 22:36, good for 28th place, while sophomore Melanie
Frank’s effort of 22:58 was third on the squad and
48th in the field. Rounding out the team’s
scorers were sophomore Calley Edwards (23:16, 68th) and
junior Sara Gelb (23:18, 73rd).
Emory returns to action on Oct. 30 when it competes at the
University Athletic Association Championships in New York.
