Romin Williams Tabbed As UAA Men's Basketball Player Of The Week

Emory University sophomore Romin Williams (Harvey, LA) has been selected as the University Athletic Association Men's Basketball Player of the Week for his efforts in contests against Washington University and the University of Chicago.  It is the first time in his career that he has received the honor.

The 5-foot-9 Williams averaged a team-high 29.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists over the two-game set.   In addition, Williams shot 51.2 percent (21-of-41) from the floor, 44.0 percent (11-of-25) from three-point range and 83.3 percent (5-of-6) from the foul line.

In a 105-82 triumph over Washington University, Williams posted a game-high 31 points, four assists and three rebounds. He ended the game 11-of-19 from the field, including five-of-11 from distance and four-of-five from the foul line, in dialing up his second-highest career total. He followed that effort with a game-high 27 points in a 114-107 setback to Chicago, knocking down 10 field goals in 22 tries and six triples in 14 opportunities, his 12th contest of the year with three or more treys.

Williams now has 71 three-point field goals to his credit this year, good for a fifth-place tie on the program's seasonal chart.

Through games played Feb. 10, Williams paces the UAA in overall scoring average (18.1 ppg) and tops the league in three-point field goals per game (3.2 tpg).

Emory, 17-5 on the year and tied for first place in the UAA with a mark of 8-3, returns to action on Friday (Feb. 15) when it plays at Case Western Reserve.
