Emory University swimmers Thomas Gordon and Lucy Daro were named the University Athletic Association Athletes of the Week on Monday afternoon for their performances at Florida Southern Friday evening. The weekly honor marks the second of both Eagles' careers.
Daro contributed to four event victories as the Eagles topped Division II's FSC in a dual meet in Lakeland, FL. The sophomore touched first in a pair of solo events, winning the 50 Free (25.06) and 100 Fly (58.72) and was part of both winning relay teams as Emory recorded times of 4:00.21 in the 400 Medley and 1:38.46 in the 200 Free.
Gordon, in his first meet back from an injury, posted a pair of top-two individual finishes at the meet. The senior claimed a win in the 1000 Free with a time of 9:38.75 and was second in the 500 Free, touching at 4:44.20.
The Eagles continue their January schedule this Saturday with a tri-meet against West Florida and Delta State. Action from Pensacola, FL is set to begin at 8:30 AM.
