With three event championships on Thursday, the Emory University Men's Swimming & Diving program has built a substantial lead at the University Athletic Association Championships which are being held in Chicago, IL.
Through two days of competition, the Eagles are in front by almost 250 points as the team sits in first place at 647 points with Washington University-St. Louis in second place at 402 points..
Senior Trey Kolleck captured the lone individual event title on the evening as Emory as a whole secured three of the five swimming events contested. Kolleck took home his first-ever conference crown in the 50 Freestyle, posting a winning time of 20.56 in the finals.
Kolleck added two more event championships to his ledger on Thursday, swimming the final leg in both the 200 Freestyle Relay and 400 Medley Relay. Kolleck made up significant ground in the final leg of the 400 Medley as he, junior Sage Ono and freshman Tyler Russell and Hwa Min Sim took gold with a winning time of 3:17.86. And in the 200 FR, Kolleck along with Ono, senior Zachary Chen and freshman Colin LaFave earned the top spot with a time of 1:20.86.
Adding All-UAA finishes for the Eagles on Thursday were Chen in the 200 IM (2nd, 1:49.53) and senior Thomas Gordon in the 500 Freestyle (2nd, 4:27.95).
The UAA Championships continue on Friday with the men's 3-meter diving, 200 Medley Relay, 400 IM, 100 Butterfly, 200 Freestyle, 100 Breaststroke, 100 Backstroke and 800 Freestyle Relay.
