Emory Men's Tennis Tops Williams

The Emory men's tennis team closed out a successful two-match swing in California on Sunday, registering a victory over Williams College on the campus of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.  The No. 4-ranked Eagles upped their dual record to 8-2 following a 6-3 triumph over the No. 5 Ephs who slipped to 2-2.

Emory held a 2-1 advantage following doubles. The No. 1 duo of Jonathan Jemison and Adrien Bouchet earned an 8-6 win over Alex Taylor and Peter Frelinghuysen that raised their season ledger to 15-4.  At second doubles, senior James Spaulding and Will Wanner came away with the other point with an 8-3 triumph over Arturo Kam and Calvin Chung.

The Eagles captured four of the singles matches, three of which went three sets. Jemison rallied for a 5-7, 7-6, 6-1, victory at the No. 1 post over Kam, his 15th win in 17 decisions this year, while sophomore Hayden Cassone improved to 10-5 on the campaign following his 6-3, 5-7, 6-1 triumph against Barr at No. 2.  Freshman Andrew Esses fought back from a first-set defeat to battle his way to a 2-6, 6-4, 6-0, outcome over Chung at No. 5.  Bouchet was the squad's other singles victory, besting Ananth Raghavan, 6-3, 7-5, at No. 3.

On Saturday, Emory defeated UC-Santa Cruz, 7-2.

Winners of its last four matches, Emory returns home for a Thursday (Mar. 28) afternoon match against Kalamazoo College starting at 2:00 pm.
