Emory Men's Tennis Wins At Sewanee

The Emory men's tennis team made a successful Monday afternoon road trip to the University of the South, topping the Tigers in a match of two top-20 ranked D-III programs.  The No. 3 Eagles won for the ninth straight time and raised their spring record to 13-2 following a 7-2 triumph over the No. 19 Tigers who slipped to 17-6.

Emory enjoyed a 2-1 edge after doubles with the No. 1 tandem of seniors Jonathan Jemison and Adrien Bouchet upping their season mark to 20-4 after defeating the Tigers' duo of Aubrey Davis and Jordan Brewer, 8-6.  At third doubles, freshman Antonio Mora and Alex Rabinowitz accounted for the other point, dispatching Ryan Wax and Brandon Kali, 8-2.

With Head Coach John Browning opting to juggle his singles lineup, Emory prevailed in five matches.  Bouchet moved into the No. 1 slot and came away with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Andres Carro, boosting his season record to 16-3.  Playing at No. 2, Mora bettered Jack Gray, 6-1, 6-3 for his 16th victory in 19 decisions this season. Freshman Andrew Esses won at third singles, earning a 7-5, 6-1, verdict against Brewer. Senior George Congdon and sophomore Will Wanner accounted for the other wins at Nos. 5 and 6, respectively.

Emory returns to action on Tuesday (Apr. 16) when it hosts Washington and Lee in its final regular-season home match of the campaign.  Action at the Woodruff PE Center begins at 1:00 pm.
