Freshman Jacqueline Spizizen figured in both of Emory's wins in a sweep of a doubleheader vs. Covenant College.
Spizizen earned the victory in the first game, her fourth in five decisions this year, tossing three innings of scoreless relief, striking out six and not issuing any walks as the Eagles prevailed by a 5-1 count. She pocketed a save in the finale, going the final 1 1/3 frames, not allowing any hits while fanning two.
All totaled, she threw 4 1/3 innings, allowed no hits, no runs and struck out a total of eight batters.
So far this year, she has logged 28 innings of work and owns an ERA of 1.25. She has whiffed 36 opposing batters and walked eight batters.
