Junior middle Sydney Leimbach helped the No. 4-ranked Emory volleyball team to a 3-0 record at the Transylvania Invitational.
The 6-foot-2 Leimbach hit a team-high .365 (30-7--63), was third on the team in kills average (3.00 kps) and first in blocks average (1.00 bps) as the Eagles boosted their season record to 11-1.
Leimbach came up big in the team's 3-1 decision over Heidelberg University, hitting a blazing .583 (the high-water mark by an Emory player this year) on the strength of a career-best 16 kills with just two errors in 24 swings. In addition, she recorded eight (4-4) total blocks, a mark that topped all players and that represented her second-highest career total.
On the year, Sydney is hitting at a .371 clip (112-27--229), good for second place among UAA players, and her 0.95 blocks-per-set effort places her third on the league's ladder.
