Junior libero Elyse Thompson helped the No. 5-ranked Eagles' volleyball team to a 2-1 record at the season-opening Emory Classic.
The 5-foot-7 Thompson saw action in all 10 sets over the weekend and averaged a squad-best 4.90 digs per game, with her solid defensive play a key factor in limiting the three opponents to a .141 hitting percentage.
Thompson paced the Eagles in digs in all three contests, starting with a match-high 21 in a season-opening 3-0 verdict over Whittier College. She followed that performance with an 18-digs , three-assists performance in a four-set battle vs. Illinois Wesleyan. She then closed out the Classic by leading all players with 10 digs in a sweep of Covenant College.
